May. Ahhhhh the delight!

Okay. I admit it. I'm sure you have all realized it by now, but I have been suffering from a serious case of "Blogger's Block". I come here every day. Stare at the screen. Walk away. Soooooo, if any of you have any inspired (or even quite plain) ideas, thoughts or questions for me to expound on or delve into, I would be most appreciative! I'm even considering a giveaway for those of you with ideas, but once again, have a mental block as to what to give away! (I'm telling you, this is quite serious!).

After considering my complaining attitude about March, I thought I might redeem myself by sharing a few of the many things I LOVE about May!

May Memories

Today is May 1. May Day! I can remember two very important things that happened for me on May 1. On May 1, 2004, I graduated from high school with my brother-in-law Benjamin. Of course he wasn't an official brother-in-law yet, but became so the following month. Somehow the thoughts of my approaching wedding coming up in 35 days seemed to cloud the amazingness of that day. It was fun though!

On May 1, 2003, I received my first bouquet of flowers from the man of my dreams. He stopped by my house in the middle of the day with a bouquet of wild irises. What I think is really special is that yesterday, he stopped by our house in the middle of the day with a bouquet of wild irises! I love my man!

As you can see, he's not the only one to adorn me with such special finery. I'm so blessed! This kind of goes along with the next thing I love about May.

May Merriment

May seems to bring so many special times. This morning our youth group put on the Mother's Day Breakfast. Every year it is FABULOUS!!! Two years ago they transformed our fellowship hall into a luscious garden, complete with a stream (with turtles) and hundreds of plants. Last year it was a pioneer farmyard, with hoopskirted servers, a real old cook stove, goats and chickens. (Yes, all IN the fellowship hall). This year it was a beautiful courtyard with laid paving stones, a magnificent fountain and a vast array of plants and flowers. We are SPOILED!!!

In May we also have birthday time!!! Havilah and Lydia's birthdays are exactly two weeks apart so today we are having a joint birthday party on my side of the family. Fun! Fun! Fun! I always try to imagine that carrot cake has some healthy benefits to it. As I poured in the sugar and oil my confidence was a little shaken. I guess the yumminess will have to make up for it!

The other great thing about May is that running and playing outside is in full swing! Which brings me to my last consideration.

May Madness

Oh yes! I am very guilty of this! I am one of those planners, schemers and dreamers. Unfortunately my diligence and consistency has not quite caught up with me yet! Every spring, I start drooling for a garden. It will be the most amazing garden ever. Last year we had an abundant harvest of beets and cilantro ( even though I planted about everything else on the planet.) When I was growing up, our garden was always beautiful! Although, I never seemed to take much notice of the countless hours my Daddy spent watering, weeding and tending.

My dear husband is very gracious and patient and has actually given his blessing for me to have another try. I'm not sure what as come over him! I really am determined to be more consistent this year. Last year I learned two important lessons: Plants don't grow very well without sufficient water and deer aren't scared by fishing line.

Thanks for sticking with me through the thick and thin. Through Blogger's Block and blubbering ideas. Through words like amazingness and yumminess, You're all the best!

I would love to hear about a typical homeschool time. What do you work on, how do you divide your time, keep the little ones occupied....

I am also a very ambitious gardener in my imagination. I'm very excited this year because I don't have heart burn like last summer when I was very pregnant. Plus, I have lots of energy and a baby who already loves to play in the grass. The garden has hope!

I think if I had a plot of land, I would garden like you. Even with the small deck containers I have, I cannot seem to keep them alive through the summer!

One of my friends is doing a May blogging project where she's just posting little things that bring her joy throughout the month of May: http://attemptingtransparency.blogspot.com/2010/05/things-that-make-heart-beat-faster.html. I am tempted to join her...

Hi Grace, just wanted to stop by and let you know how much I enjoy your blog. You are always so positive and encouraging, and your trust in the Lord shines through everything you share. That's a huge blessing to others! I hope your garden is successful this year - if I ever have the privilege of having my own home, I have dreams of a beautiful garden!!

Hi Grace. I am always blessed by your blog. Even your pictures caused me to look at my sweet little mess makers differently that day. As for your givaway...I would like some of your attitude if you have any to spare. I love your prespective and your thankfulness and want more of it in my own life.
