My Special Day

Today was my birthday! I woke up this morning to a beautiful world that God had decorated with sparkling snow just for me and a delicious breakfast in bed. I had never had a real breakfast in bed before! My amazing husband had gotten up and prepared pastries, apples, raspberries (yum!) and coffee and brought it in to me while I was still sleeping then spent a wonderful 40 minutes just sitting and enjoying the time with me. It was fantastic! No interruptions!

This afternoon my sweet mother-in-law took myself and my sister-in-law, Laura, who is visiting out to lunch. Someday we will have to reserve an entire restaurant to have all of us daughter-in-laws go out together, but for now it's just the two of us!

When I got home our sweet Miss Mary had made me a beautiful birthday cake!

I love birthdays! Someone ( I won't name names!) just the other day said to me, " I think that birthdays don't mean as much when you get older", but I'm afraid I'll have to disagree! I still am so blessed by the little things that people do to make my day a special one. 39 people sent me birthday greetings on Facebook! My life long friend swung by my house and dropped off a present for me last week. All of my grandparents and grandparents-in-law sent me birthday cards. My mom sent over our traditional " birthday table cloth". I feel a little shallow saying this, but things like that just thrill the socks off me!
What do you think? Are birthdays just another day for you, or do you still love them too? Maybe I'm just not old enough yet! Thanks to all of you who have blessed me in all the small and great ways! Just in case you're wondering ( and couldn't read the cake), I turned 23 today.

Happy birthday, Grace! Glad your day was such a special one. I'm past my mid-thirties (that makes me feel a tad old compared to 23), but I still get excited for my birthday! Having a doting family is probably part of the fun. :)

Birthdays are a big deal for me too. It's the one day a year that is special JUST for me. I love it and I don't think it makes us shallow!

So glad you had a happy birthday!

I think birthdays should remain special! These past few years I haven't really felt it but I miss the joy and excitement that came along with the day! I'm glad you still feel the love and joy!
